While perusing the interwebs during little man's nap time, I came across a website called LovinFollowers.com. I was googling how to build up your blog and this page popped up, so naturally being the Curious Cat that I am I decided to investigate.
Now, tell me, is this real life..?
This website claims that by purchasing one of their packages you will instantly receive anywhere from 100-500 new Bloglovin followers by paying $10-$43.
Uh, say what?
Am I the only one that thinks this is super desperate sounding?
I mean, don't get me wrong. I like knowing people are reading my blog and what I have to say. And obviously would love to attract more peeps (otherwise I wouldn't have been googling it in the first place) but I'm certainly not desperate for it! And really? People pay to be 'followed'? Creepy much?
Don't tell me I'm the only one that thinks this...
This website has me a little creeped out. And totally second guessing the blogs I follow. Did they buy people? Doesn't that just sound so weird?
Okay, rant done.
Oh and yes, it took me longer to find a meme to go with this post than it did to actually write it...

Wow that is just sad! I must agree with you on the fact that it makes me question some of the blogs I follow now, I would unfollow anyone if I knew they did this.
ReplyDeleteI'm so confused!!! Does that mean we wouldn't know if we were following someone who paid for us? That's so crazy! I would be interested to see a list!!
ReplyDeleteI was intrigued when LovinFollowers followed me on twitter (although it's quite a new account so had a quick look. Apparently I'm #48 of #50 people who can claim a free offer for 50 bloglovin followers! hah. anyway, needless to say I did a quick google, found your post and couldn't agree more!
ReplyDeleteFellow blogger here (check me out!) http://thewelltravelledman.com/
I was googling about LovinFollowers and came across your post. I was surprised to find out such thing existed!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I got 6 consecutive follows from people who didn't have blog linked to their Bloglovin profile. Furthermore, all 6 had the exact same post saved, a promo of LovinFollowers.com. Very suspicious right!?
Thanks so much for this! I just got an email from them saying that they saw a Bloglovin widget on my site and they want to help me gain new followers. Since it sounded a bit shady I googled it and your post came up. Soooo weird that there's supposedly a whole business where people pay for likes and followers. Seriously why? I'd rather have a handful of people really reading my content than a whole bunch of followers that are only numbers and don't care about the stuff I write. The world we live in... :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like I got the same email! I was a bit confused because it didn't seem to originate from Bloglovin who might've wanted to do a survey. Anyone else? Not so much. So I too googled their domain and cam across this blogpost. Why anyone would want to buy followers is beyond me. I want followers to actually care about my content, not artificially inflate the numbers.
