hot mess for the win

Do you ever have those days where you try to cram way to much in and somehow manage to skip a nap and stay out past dinner time and it turns into a big huge hot mess?

Well... yesterday was one of those days.

T woke up from a quick nap a little after noon and we decided to take a drive up to the new house (about 20 min away) and take some measurements of various things. All was well, until it started to get a bit cold and I realized we forgot the proper outdoor garments.

We bundled up and I gave T some puffs to snack on. Somehow it started getting late, we got to chatting with the realtors, etc and realized we needed to head to the store to get fixings for dinner.

T had started getting fussy at this point as it was already around 4 and he really could have used another quick nap around 3. But we forged on and headed to the store.

We were about to make it through the store and out the door to head home when I pick T out of the cart and realize he has had a huge massive blow out! I attempt to hide the poop stains with my arm so that no fellow grocery shoppers notice my newbie mom mistake from earlier of trying to strap a diaper on a wild turkey in the car before running inside. And of course this leads to said poop all over my arms.

We finally get to the car after Vince finishes paying and shoos us away from some crazy lady trying to get T to pet her dog. I come up with the brilliant idea of taking his pants off only to realize that the poop is now all down his legs completely covering him. I lay a blanket on his car seat while muttering a few choice words to myself and strap him in.

Now of course realizing he is starving since it's well pass his dinner time I decide to allow him to enjoy a squeeze pouch all by himself on the way home.

Needless to say, it was straight to the bath for this guy.

what a week!

Wow it's been a crazy week.

I meant to have some pictures ready to go along with this post but it's been so crazy at the House that I have had zero time. Zilch. So here's a quick cell phone shot of the kitchen area.

We had photos taken of our home on Saturday and so the days leading up were filled with cleaning, organizing, packing, and staging. Since then we have been in maintenance mode which is rather challenging with an 8 month old and two dogs.

Our house went on the market Wednesday and we had a brokers open that day along with a few showings. Believe it or not: we got an offer that evening!! Our plan is to wait until after the open houses this weekend to look at the offers and make a decision. So we still have a few more days of this madness but it will be well worth it in the end!

I just can't wait for this part to be over. The idea of people walking through out home while we aren't here is very strange. But I'm trying to get over that.

Keep your fingers crossed for us that the rest of this goes smoothly! And I'm hoping to post a complete home tour sometime next week.

Have a great weekend!

house update // lookin like a house!

It's been a while since I've done a house update and things have started to really progress! It's been pretty cool to see it go from nothing to now, actually looking like a house.

There she is! All the framing is done on the first and second floors as well as the roof. They are going to install windows and do the roofing next.

We got to peak our heads in and do a quick walk through while the workers were taking a break. I don't know if we were actually allowed to but hey.. no one stopped us.

Truett and I are standing in his room looking out the window that looks over at the park across the street.

We got an update a couple weeks ago that things are running a bit behind so we negotiated with them to wait to put our current house on the market. Instead of January 2nd as we originally planned, we now have til February 2nd. Such a huge relief! I was getting incredibly stressed with the holidays and trying to figure out how I was going to do some packing and stage the house. It was insane. But now we have a few more weeks to get prepared and I'm feeling much better about it!

No other updates than that really. We go by weekly to check things out but I've been told that usually once framing goes up things slow down a bit. We'll see!

eight months old [truett]

Someone turned 8 months old on Friday and I think he's pretty stoked about it!

Weight/Height: He hasn't been weighed or measured in a little while, and his next doc appointment isn't until 9 months but I think he is about the same weight as before... 22ish pounds. He has been movin' & groovin' like crazy so I don't think he's packing on much weight these days. I could be wrong though! We'll see next month.

Clothes: Still in all 12 month clothes.

Sleep: He slept through the night for the first time last night! But I'm certainly not holding my breath on that... overall, he has been waking once & just needs a little hug and kiss and he falls right back to sleep. So I do think he is getting closer/ready for sleeping all the way through. Which for him is around 6:30pm to 6:30am. He's also down to 2 naps a day, lasting about an hour each. Sometimes his morning one will last two hours but then his afternoon will only be like 30 min.

Feeding: Still nursing like a champ! He gets breakfast, lunch, & dinner with some snacks when he feels like it. He nurses about 4 times a day still, once when he wakes up, one after his 1st nap, then another have his 2nd nap, and then right before bed.

Likes: His grandma (Vince's mom) got him a wood push toy for Christmas and he loooves it! He loves walking around the kitchen on the hardwoods cause he can go faster there than on the carpet. It has caused a few bumps but he's such a tough kiddo.

Dislikes: He is still not loving the car.. unless he is snacking. I feel ya, True.

Milestones: He has 7 teeth! He can crawl, stand with support, and walk with support. He isn't quite coordinated enough yet to do the standing or walking on his own but he sure is fearless and tries to anyway.. which explains all his bumps and scratches.

Events: First Christmas! We had a wonderful Christmas and it's true what they say that it is way more fun with kids involved. Even though he was still too young to fully grasp what was going on it was so fun to watch everything through his eyes. He loved the Christmas tree! And did a pretty good job at not attacking it too often. We made sure to get a sturdier stand this year so it wouldn't topple over on him.

Happy New Year to y'all! And we hope you all had a wonderful holiday. xo
